Activities

We believe that activities are a vital part of every day life at Belford House. It is of course the choice of the individual whether they wish to participate but we like to make sure that various activities and entertainment are scheduled on a daily basis.

Whether it’s a traditional game of bingo, carpet bowls or dominoes, a tea dance, a cake making (and tasting!) afternoon, card games or a quiz, we try to cater for everyone. We have various entertainers that come into Belford house to sing, play an instrument or to hold a flower arranging session. Various theatre companies visit a few times a year and captivate the whole house with their shows. There is also the option of just relaxing in the sun on our patio or going for a walk.

The local vicar comes in monthly to hold communion and the local church holds various ‘tea and chat’ afternoons which are popular with our residents. Pine Court, located in the grounds of Belford House hold their own coffee morning and scrabble afternoons on a weekly basis which is available to the residents of Belford House.

Christmas time is a busy time of the year with choristers of all ages and abilities coming in to sing to and with the residents. Even the Belford House choir is in its 16th year and I truly believe, improving on a yearly basis!

Firework night is a favourite with residents and staff when Mike and Jamie are sent outside with a selection of colourful fireworks.

In the warmer weather, we like to go out and visit garden centres, the seaside or even just up to the village to have a coffee and watch the world go by.

We have a shop that is set up every Wednesday selling everything from writing paper to chocolate and toiletries so that the residents do not have to rely on relatives to buy their essentials. We also have the mobile library calling once a week so that residents can choose books and audio books.

Whatever the activity, all residents are encouraged to join in and participate with the staff and new ideas are always welcome!
