
Residents' Charter of Rights
All Residents at Belford House will...
- Be able to feel as if they are in their own home
- Be treated with dignity and respect
- Have their privacy respected and independence encouraged
- Not be discriminated against on grounds of race, colour, sex, religion or disability
- Be able to choose their own doctor, dentist, optician etc
- Be able to administer their own medication if able to do so and be provided with appropriate lockable storage
- Be able to bring in personal items of furniture and belongings if they so wish
- Be given appetising, nourishing food taking into account their likes and dislikes
- Be able to receive visitors at any reasonable time
- Have access to a telephone
- Have the right to make choices regarding their personal care within the Home
- Have the right to complain
- Be encouraged to join in with recreational activities and facilities
- Be given a brochure and a Contract
- Be addressed as they wish
- Have the right to consult their own solicitor
- Receive medical and nursing attention in private
- Be entitled to all of the common facilities available to other people living elsewhere in the community
